Meeting of the Minds Bring Five Days of Trop Rock to Gulf Coast

GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Gulf Coast will be filled with Trop Rock music and island spirit Oct. 21-25 as Meeting of the Minds brings five days of performances, showcases and special events to Gulf Shores and nearby Perdido Key.

The schedule stretches across several Gulf Coast locations, including The Hangout, LuLu’s Gulf Shores, Embassy Suites, Shrimpy’s Grill & Golf, The Catch and Flora-Bama.

The week also includes appearances from artists closely associated with Jimmy Buffett’s musical legacy, including members and collaborators from the Coral Reefer community.

Wednesday, Oct. 21 (Kickoff for Meeting of the Minds)

Wednesday begins at Shrimpy’s Grill & Golf with the Celebrity Drink & Putt from 10 a.m. to noon. Confirmed participants include Renee Adams, Eric Erdman, Mike Nash, Dan Sullivan, Brooke Graham, Christopher Dale and Dave Freeman.

At the Embassy Suites Coastal Ballroom, “Oysters & Pearls: Treasures & Tales from the Life of Jimmy Buffett” runs from 5-7 p.m. The special ticketed presentation features producer and stage manager JL Jamison alongside musician, Coral Reefer and Grammy-nominated songwriter Will Kimbrough. General admission is $20, with tickets available through MOTM.rocks.

The evening moves to The Hangout, where Jerry Diaz performs on the Mermaid Stage from 5:30-7 p.m., followed by a Buffett Tribute Show on the Main Stage from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 22

Thursday begins with the Celebrity TropOlympics from 10 a.m.-noon, hosted by Renee Adams and Donny Brewer.

The VIP Showcase features Bill Whyte, Jason Acy, Kirstie Kraus and Kitty Steadman, while Kelly McGuire performs during the Lighthouse Showcase at Embassy Suites from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Hangout’s Mermaid Stage features Brooke Graham from noon-1:30 p.m. and Carrie Welling from 1:45-3:15 p.m.

The Main Stage lineup begins with Will Kimbrough at 4 p.m., followed by Boat Drunks at 5:15 p.m., Ricky Lamb & No Bad Days Band at 7 p.m. and Eric Erdman with Full Band at 9 p.m.

The night continues at The Catch with El Wencho from 10:45 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Credentials are required for the late-night event.

Friday, Oct. 23

Friday includes a Club Leaders Brunch at The Hangout from 9 a.m.-noon before the music turns toward Jimmy Buffett's musical legacy with Coral Reefer Day.

The Main Stage features the Peter Mayer Group at noon, Nadirah Shakoor & Friends at 1:45 p.m. and Jim Mayer & Tropical Friends at 3:30 p.m.

The evening lineup continues with Thom & Coley Shepherd with Band at 5:15 p.m., Jimmy & the Parrots at 7 p.m. and Django Walker with Full Band at 9 p.m.

Late-night festivities move to The Catch at approximately 10:45 p.m. with Wanna Get Lucky? and Mick Fury’s Irish Shenanigans. Credentials are required.

Saturday, Oct. 24

Saturday starts at LuLu’s Gulf Shores with the Skippin’ n Sippin’ Fun Run from 8-11 a.m., followed by LuLu’s 2nd Line from 11 a.m.-noon and the Lone Palm Event from noon-3 p.m.

At The Hangout, Mark Mulch performs on the Mermaid Stage at noon, followed by Sunny Jim at 1:45 p.m.

Following the General Membership Meeting, the Main Stage music begins with Johnny Russler & the Beach Bum Band at 5:15 p.m., Jammy Buffet at 7 p.m. and Rosie & the Revival at 9 p.m.

The VIP Pool Deck also features performances by Dan Sullivan, Heather Vidal and Christopher Dale throughout the late morning and early afternoon.

The Catch closes out Saturday with El Wencho & Friends beginning around 10:45 p.m. Credentials are required.

Sunday, Oct. 25

The final day spreads the celebration between Gulf Shores and Perdido Key.

At LuLu’s Gulf Shores, Sunny Jim hosts a Songwriters Showcase from 1-5 p.m.

The festivities also head east to Flora-Bama, where the Brasway Show & Auction takes place on the Dome Stage from 1-4 p.m., followed by the Trop Rock All Star Showcase from 3:30-6:30 p.m.

With five days of performances and special events, Music on the Move will bring together artists, fans and members of the Trop Rock community for a packed week along the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast.

Gulf Coast Music Radio will be following the festivities throughout the week.
